- Hi. I'm a scientist and engineer who has worked in a wide variety of fields for many years. Communicating scientific matters has been important part of that experience. I need to list a few of my credentials here because I'll be writing about a variety of issues, currently the Amanda Knox trial in Perugia, Italy. I've got four science and engineering degrees, including a Ph.D. in materials science and 20 years of experience after that. Some phases that career has been working as a scientist for the Air Force, an engineer for a major engineering firm, and the Chief Technology Officer of two companies. I've developed a number of measurement techniques, hold several patents, and have managed or worked on a wide range of scientific projects. I've performed technology reviews for some of the largest companies in the world, sorting through claims of scientists and engineers and communicating the results to lay persons. I've worked in what is commonly called "anti-counterfeiting" technology for several years, and I recently started my own firm, Perception Development Co. (www.percdev.com)
